Wilson’s students playing rugby for Ireland
Two Form 5 students at Wilson’s Hospital School were recognised at the recent sports awards in the school for their successes in being chosen to represent Ireland in rugby.
Diana Izekor and Shane McGuigan were presented with school crests to mark their achievement.
Diana, from Kinnegad, was selected for the Ireland U18 Girls this season. She travelled to London for the 5 Nations, and played against England, Wales, Scotland and France.
Diana also played for Leinster U18s last season and captured the Interprovincial series after wins against Ulster, Connacht and Munster, starting on the wing.
Diana plays club rugby with Longford RFC.
Shane, from Granard, was selected for the Ireland U18 Clubs this season. He travelled to Italy for two games against their Italian counterparts over an eight-day period in October.
That was after having played for Leinster U18 Clubs last summer, winning the Interprovincial series starting all three games at Openside Flanker.
