Launch of Bee Pollinator Trail at Streamstown

A new Bee Pollinator Trail on the Old Rail Trail Greenway at Streamstown is being launched on Friday next, May 23 (11am-noon).

The trail has been developed in collaboration with the National Biodiversity Data Centre and the local community as part of National Biodiversity Week 2025.

The aim is to highlight the essential role bees and other pollinators play in maintaining healthy ecosystems and to promote actions that individuals and communities can take to support them.

Attendees will learn how the trail contributes to local biodiversity conservation, discover the different species it supports, and gain practical tips on how to create pollinator-friendly habitats at home, on farms, and in community spaces.

All are welcome, but booking is essential.

To reserve your place, email biodiversity@westmeathcoco.ie.

Dress appropriately for the weather and wear sturdy footwear, as the event will take place outdoors.

Children are welcome but must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times. Light refreshments will be provided.
