Big bank holiday weekend race meeting in Kilbeggan
Following a super day of fantastic racing and great fun on Friday May 16 last, Kilbeggan Races returns on Sunday June 1, with their Summer Sunday Racing.
The June bank holiday race day is Kilbeggan Racecourse’s family fun day out, with bouncy castles, face painting, games and ice-cream on offer, to entertain the kids, whilst of course, exciting horse racing takes place. It is worth noting, that children under 16 are admitted free of charge to the racecourse.
This upcoming June bank holiday sees Kilbeggan host its first ever best dressed man’s day…or in this case, the Best Dressed Guy’s Day. Anthony and Kara Kearns of GUY Clothing and KODE Clothing and Footwear Tullamore are the sponsors of the Best Dressed Guy competition on the day. With an overall prize fund worth over €2,000, it really is worth your while guys to show up at the races, looking your best, to be in with a chance to win.
First prize is a €1,000 GUY Clothing voucher with a personal one to one styling and makeover. The second prize is a suit, shirt and tie valued at €450, and the third prize is a suit valued at €350.
The top five finalists each receive a goodie bag. The judges on the day are household names, with brand ambassador for GUY Clothing and country music legend Mike Denver and Virgin Media and Ireland AM’s Alan Hughes doing the honours. It really has all the makings of a great day out.
With regards the racing side of things, the second race on the day’s card is the racing@kilbegganraces.com Novice Hurdle and this always attracts a decent quality field. Last year’s winner Paggane, trained by Willie Mullins was just touched off recently in the Killarney National in May.
Also, one to watch is the Joe Quinn Transport Longford Handicap Hurdle, which attracts a competitive field.
But the highlight on the card will be The GUY Clothing and KODE Clothing and Footwear Handicap Steeplechase, which will attract horses with a rating of up to 120, which could lead them on to qualify for The Midlands National in July.
With good food and drink, live music in both the marquee and outside the Pavilion Bar, kids entertainment and of course top quality racing, there is something for everyone at Kilbeggan Racecourse this June Bank Holiday, so get your tickets today by visiting www.kilbegganraces.com, where you will receive a 10% discount on adult general admission tickets.
