LARCC Cancer Support Sanctuary hold Coffee Day at AIB branch in Mullingar

Cancer Support charity LARCC held its annual Coffee Day, in aid of the Cancer Support Sanctuary, at the AIB Branch in Mullingar on Thursday, May 29.

The event was held from 10 am until 12 pm, with Coffee, tea and baked goods all provided, along with collection buckets for anyone who wished to donate.

The Cancer Support Sanctuary is located in Multyfarnham and aims to support people living with cancer, providing a homely environment for patients.

The sanctuary has been accessible for 14 years and provides counselling, therapies, nurse support, telephone support and play therapy for children.

Bernie McHugh, General Manager of LARCC in Multyfarnham said: “Without events like this, we simply couldn't keep our doors open.

“The money raised here goes a long way, and for a lot of us involved, this charity is close to our hearts.

“We are just so delighted to be here, it's great to be able to get the word out there, and it gives us a chance to meet people face to face and hopefully the charity will become more familiar with members of the public.”

Michelle Keoghan, a volunteer at the Coffee Day said: “ We cannot thank local people and local businesses enough for their donations and support, they even helped us with raffle prizes and the bakes good, people have just been so generous.

“It's a charity that's close to everyone's hearts here, we have all been affected in some way by cancer and it's great to see such support.”
