Mullingar Swimming Pool bookings now online

The Municipal District of Mullingar Kinnegad have announced that Mullingar Swimming Pool bookings can now be done online, making it easier than ever for users to plan their visits and enjoy the facilities.

The new setup was co-funded by the Department of Rural and Community Development’s Community Recognition Fund and Westmeath County Council.

A wide variety of classes and public sessions are available, catering for all swimming needs, all levels and ages, including swimming classes, aqua aerobics, sauna, public sessions.

The online booking system and timetables are accessible via the Westmeath County Council website at Mullingar Swimming Pool and Facebook page, ‘Mullingar Swimming Pool’.

In tandem with the digital improvements, the council are launching Swim-Ability, a programme that provides tailored swim sessions for children with additional needs.

Swim Ability Programme

The Swim Ability Programme is aimed at increasing children’s confidence and ability in the water. Swimming and activity in water have multitudes of benefits for all children and young adults, including those with disabilities and learning difficulties.

For children with movement restrictions, activity in water can help to increase muscle tone and strength, improve range of motion, and develop self-confidence.

With each kick, stroke, and movement, water resistance helps to build muscle tone and strength, which is particularly important in children and adolescents with disabilities as it helps to develop their gross motor skills and balance.

The Swim Ability Programme starts on July 12, offering classes on Saturdays and Sunday mornings at affordable prices at suitable times for all.

In addition, a sensory session for children with additional needs will commence on Fridays during the summer months from 1pm to 2pm.

Westmeath County Council are committed to keeping community services accessible, offering high quality and qualified swim instructors to deliver the programmes while ensuring that cost is not a barrier to participation.
