Fin Brennan on Leinster U18 Schools summer squad
Mullingar Rugby Club notes
Mullingar RFC is delighted to share that Fin Brennan has been picked for the Leinster U18 Schools summer squad.
Fin was the captain of our U13 team that won the Leinster Cup in 2021. He’s worked hard ever since, and this is a big step forward in his rugby journey.
Everyone at the club is very proud of Fin. It’s great to see one of our own getting this chance.
Summer
Big congratulations to Peader Glennon, who has been selected for the Leinster U19 squad this summer. Peader will be joined by Shane McGuigan of Longford RFC, who also earned his place in the squad. A huge achievement for both lads – well done.
Also flying the flag for Mullingar is Isaac O'Neill, who has been named to the Leinster U18 Club panel. Isaac will join Alex Bagnall of Edenderry RFC who has also been selected. Isaac began his rugby journey with Virginia RFC, and both of his clubs – Virginia and Mullingar – are incredibly proud of his success.
Best of luck to Peader and Isaac as they take this next exciting step in their rugby journeys.
Mullingar Rugby Club marks 100th AGM with pride and progress
Mullingar Rugby Club held a historic AGM on Thursday night, 30 May, celebrating 100 years since its founding. This milestone event was well attended, with representation from across all parts of the club.
On the night, club president Ciaran Murtaghwas presented with the various cups and trophies won during the season. In his address, Ciaran reflected on a positive year for the club, noting steady progress both on and off the pitch.
“Things are definitely better than last year,” he said. “We’ve seen growth in community involvement, improved results, strong player development and more volunteers stepping forward. Our aim each year is to be a little bit better – and we’ve done that.”
The AGM also saw the appointment of members to new roles within the club as preparations begin for the 101st season, which kicks off later this summer.
Mullingar Rugby Club always welcomes new players, volunteers, and members. If you're interested in getting involved, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Here’s to the next 100 years.
Paul Rock named Volunteer of the Year
Mullingar Rugby Club is proud to announce Paul Rock as the recipient of the Paddy Cooney Memorial Trophy for Outstanding Volunteer of the Year 2025–2026.
Paul has been a constant presence at our club over many years. Whether behind the bar or, most importantly, out on the pitch as a referee, Paul gives his time generously and consistently. His dedication to officiating games at every level has been vital, not just to our club in Mullingar, but across the wider Leinster rugby community.
Paul’s experience, reliability, and passion for the game truly reflect the values we hold dear. We are delighted to honour him with this well-deserved recognition.
Thank you, Paul, for everything you do for Mullingar RFC.
