Lions Club summer cycle adds €6,000 to St Kenny NS fund
David Coughlan, president, Mullingar Lions Club, has presented a cheque to the value of €6,000 to the management of St Kenny National School, Ballinea, for the completion of their sensory building for children in their school with additional needs.
This donation is part of a Mullingar Lions Club project to provide support and respite for families who have children with additional needs and autism.
The Lions Club Summer Cycle Challenge, which took place on bank holiday Monday, May 5, realised approximately €6,000 and Mullingar Lions Club are happy to contribute these funds to supplement the fundraising efforts of the parents council and staff, through which approximately €20,000 has been acquired.
Frank Dillon, project coordinator, stressed the need for support and respite. “Many families are now finding that the lack of resources available are proving a major challenge.”
Midsummer Ball
Mullingar Lions Club once again are hosting this year’s Midsummer Ball on Friday July 11 in the Barn in Tyrrellspass.
“This event is generously sponsored by David Smyth Catering and all proceeds from the function will go towards improving the quality of life for families of children with additional needs.
Frank added: “Your support and contributions will greatly help Mullingar Lions Club to continue to make available respite and support on a weekly basis and assistance for children who otherwise would not be taken care of.”
