Explore Joyce's Mullingar with historian/guide Ruth Illingworth
Tour guide and historian Ruth Illingworth embraces the annual celebration of Bloomsday each year, and she runs tour of Mullingar to mark the day.
Ruth says: "In 1900 and 1901, James Joyce visited Mullingar, and he never forgot the town.
"He lived in the town for a number of weeks in 1900 and 1901, while his father did work for the county council.
"Mullingar features in his novels, Ulysses and Stephen Hero."
The walking tours are on Bloomsday, Monday June 16, at 11am, 3pm and 7pm from the Greville Arms Hotel.
The cost is, adults €5, children free.
Places visited on the tour will include the Joyce Mural in Mount Street, the Greville Arms and the location of the photo business in which Millie Bloom worked.
