€50k allocated new Multyfarnham playground

Westmeath County Council has confirmed that €50,000 has been allocated through Clar for a new playground in Multyfarnham.

The matter was highlighted when Cllr Alfie Devine tabled two motions to a recent sitting of the Mullingar Kinnegad Municipal District meeting.

Cll Devine's first motion related to the playground in Multyfarnham. He requested that a new playground be installed in Multyfarnham as the present playground is “outdated” and added that the equipment needs to be replaced.

In their reply the executive said the €50,000 has been allocated through Clar funding and this will include new equipment ensuring accessibility for all.

His second motion Cllr Devine asked that the barriers, signage and cameras at Sailors Garden, Lough Sheelin, Finea be provided to prevent the destruction of the trees and the amenity in general and to have regular visits by litter and dog wardens.

In the answer from the executive it was stated that the area will be examined to assess the reinstallation of barriers and signage and where CCTV can be located. There was also a commitment that additional seasonal wardens will enable increased visits to this location to enforce lake shore byelaws.
