More than 200 people took part in the Derravaragh 5 and 10 Mile, a fundraiser for Ballinafid, Multyfarnham Community Services, which started and finished at Derravaragh Holiday Park, Multyfarnham.
Finishers included runners of all levels, walkers, families and people with dogs, and they received T-shirts displaying the swans of Lough Derravaragh, a tribute to the legend of the Children of Lir.
All proceeds support Ballinafid-Multyfarnham Community Services, a voluntary charity established in 1974 that cares for the elderly and isolated in the community.
Catherine Lundon explained more about the charity: "It’s a local charity and my mam has been part of it for almost 25 years. She retired as chairperson this year but she’s still very active on the co and all the committee. The money goes to supporting the elderly people in the community. We provide services such as podiatry, there are social outings, there’s bingo, there’s hairdressing, there are numerous different things, so if you feel there’s a person in the community that we haven’t identified or that would like to participate in the days out, and use the facilities, please contact one of the committee members.
"And thanks very much everybody for your support throughout the year."
