'Future bright for young handlers'

Tullamore Show and FBD National Livestock Show launched their 2025 show with a learning day for young handlers, who were present from early morning at GVM Mart Tullamore on April 27 last.

The event showed the future is bright for young handlers at Tullamore Show, and all the shows around the country.

Representatives from FBD were on hand to launch the show. Local FBD branch manager Amanda Brennan, Emer O’Byrne, national head of brand strategy, and Pat Gilligan, head of sales, midlands and western region.

John Keena, Tullamore Show chairperson, welcomed everyone to the event, and thanked the sponsors especially FBD, title sponsor, for their loyal support. He was grateful to Antoinette Daly of GVM Tullamore, for providing the venue. He thanked the executive who gave their time in the preparation and setting up of both the event and the launch, and had a special mention for show secretary, Chelsey Cox McDonald, for her diligent work.

John hoped that each person would learn the skills necessary for handling stock at our show. He complimented Adam Woods of the Irish Farmers Journal for his wealth of knowledge and skills in doing MC for the day.

John welcomed Pat Gilligan of FBD, who said: "At FBD, we are extremely proud to sponsor the FBD National Livestock Show at the Tullamore Show. This event is a true highlight in our calendar, celebrating the best of Ireland’s world class livestock.

"We are delighted to continue our close collaboration with the Tullamore Show committee in the lead-up to this year’s event. On behalf of everyone at FBD Insurance, I’d like to extend our best wishes to the organisers, competitors, exhibitors, and attendees."

"We look forward to welcoming you all to the Butterfield Estate on Sunday, August 10."
