Cooper Lynch, Kinnegad Juniors, impressed for Republic of Ireland.

Juniors star impresses for Ireland

Huge congratulations to our very own Cooper Lynch who played brilliantly in midfield for Ireland as they defeated Wales 3-2 in the final to win the Association Cup.

A late penalty from Republic of Ireland's Sean Hogan secured the victory after a pulsating final with Wales. It was a fantastic spectacle with both teams deserving immense credit for their performances. Congratulations to Cooper and the Republic of Ireland team.

Fine victory for U13 girls side

Torro Utd 3 v 6 Kinnegad Juniors

It was an early morning trip for Kinnegad’s girls on Sunday and the squad was down a few numbers. We were lucky to be able to call on Robyn, from the U14 team and she fitted in brilliantly with the squad.

Kinnegad started brightly, taking the lead on nine minutes; Zoë B grabbing her first. Two more goals came from Zoë in the first half, on 14 and 28 minutes and Kinnegad had a super first half.

The second half was a bit more relaxed from Kinnegad. To their credit, Torro kept going and scored on 37 minutes, mostly due to indecisiveness in defence. Lauren was her usual self in midfield and grabbed two cracker goals on 43 and 49 minutes to put Kinnegad back in the driving seat.

Another Torro goal came on 52 but Zoë got her fourth a minute later. One more Torro goal came on 55 minutes leaving a final score of 3-6.

Esther had another good game in goals. Defence was excellently shared between Maci, Vakare, Grace, Zoe C and Robyn. Midfield was brilliant from Lily, Lauren, Sarah, Pola and Vakare. And up front, Bella, Zoë B and Pola all tormented the Torro defence and their (excellent) keeper. Well done to Vakare and Pola playing in multiple positions today - great to have the versatility across the squad.

Woman of the match: Zoë B. Four goals for Zoë and Torro found it very difficult to live with her. She was like lightning and decisive in her finishing. Well done Zoë.

Team: Esther, Vakare (captain), Maci, Grace, Zoe C, Lauren, Pola, Lily, Zoë B, Bella, Sarah, Robyn.

Coaches: Darren, Stephen, Sinead and Greta.
