‘Farewell and best wishes to Mr Shannon on his retirement’

By Fiona Brennan, principal, Emper NS

After 17 years of dedicated service, we at Emper National School bid a fond farewell to Mr Shannon, our much-loved special education teacher (SET), who is retiring this year.

Mr Shannon was a shared SET between Emper NS and Forgney, and during his time with us, he made a lasting impact on countless children. His kind and supportive approach helped many students thrive, both academically and personally.

Beyond the classroom, Mr Shannon brought energy and enthusiasm to every aspect of school life. A passionate footballer, he established a much-anticipated football tournament every September, inviting other small two-teacher schools in the area to join us for a day of sport and fun. It became a cherished tradition that brought schools together in friendly competition and camaraderie.

His love for music also shone through, especially during our school Christmas concerts. Mr Shannon was always on hand to help select lively, upbeat backing tracks, ensuring each performance had just the right touch of festive spirit.

As principal of Emper NS, I would like to extend heartfelt thanks to Mr Shannon for his years of commitment and care. We wish him every happiness in his well-earned retirement.
