Noah Kahan review: Musician in awe of enthusiastic crowd of 39,000 at Marlay Park

Noah Kahan took to the stage as the sun was setting over Dublin's Marlay Park on Tuesday night, and his performance delighted the 39,000 fans in attendance.

A wide range of age groups turned out for the US singer-songwriter, and there was something for everyone in the gig.

Kahan energetically went through his ever-growing catalogue of hits, including the likes of All My Love, Maine, You're Gunna Go Far, Northern Attitude and of course, Stick Season.

His backing band, including guitarist Noah Levine, engaged with the crowd just as much as Kahan, who seemed genuinely in awe of the support.

Kahan, who performed at Electric Picnic in 2004, said "you guys are the greatest crowds in the world", and it was clear he was being genuine about that.

As the crowd joined in with All My Love, Kahan beamed before saying, "oh, so you know all the words", as if it was a surprise.

There had been speculation Hozier would appear as a special guest, and while this didn't materialise, Kahan told the crowd "you're like mini Hoziers", before launching into Northern Attitude.

He finished with a rousing rendition of Stick Season, and was again delighted as the crowd sang along, with Kahan letting them take over for parts of the hit.

You would have been forgiven for thinking it was a Saturday night in the peak of the summer rather than a Tuesday at the start of July as joy filled Marlay Park.

Kahan will probably be back in Ireland before long if he enjoyed it as much as his fans did.
