The Open Singles event sponsored by UPMC and the fourth round of the Egan Auctioneers Order of Merit took place on Friday July 4. There were 69 entries from 12 different clubs.

Week beginning June 29 saw 47 golfers take part in the 9 Hole Stableford.

Winner: Denis Larkin 22 pts; Senior winner: Martin Little 20 pts; Super Senior winner: Ray Kenny 20 pts; Super Super Senior winner: Damien Daly 18 pts.

Inter-Club Matches

There were three Junior Boys events this week. In the Interclub qualifier, the team of Jake Bell, Seán Hickeys, Riley Thornton, Ben Thornton and Cathal Kilmurray came joint 8th, but only the top team qualified for the next round.

The Under-15s team of James McHugh, Billy Lambden and Fionn Connolly had a great performance and powered past Kilcock.

The Boys Foursomes team (Kylan Heffernan, Fionn Connolly, Dylan Lambden Hayes and Billy Lambden) took on Carlow on Sunday afternoon and in a very tightly contested match came out on top. Congratulations to these three junior teams.

Presentation Nights

Lady Captain Aideen Kellaghan held her Lady Captain’s Prize to the ladies on Sunday July 6 2025. Lady Captain Aideen was surrounded by love and support, joined by her proud parents Marie & James McGrath, her partner Chris, sister Eilis, sister-in-law Ursula, cousin Maggie, and nephew and cousin James and Brian. It was wonderful to have them all there to celebrate Aideen’s special day. Lady Captain Aideen thanked all the members of Mullingar Golf Club for their continued support throughout her captaincy year. She extended heartfelt congratulations to Brege McCarrick for winning her prize and to all winners on the day.

Lady Captain Aideen chose LARCC as her charity. She thanked everyone who contributed to this amazing cause.

On Wednesday July 2 2025, Mullingar Golf Club hosted its annual Play in Pink Day in support of cancer research. The competition format was an Open Fourball and it drew tremendous support from members of Mullingar and visitors from far and wide. The course was a sea of pink as players turned out in style to show their support for this important cause. Thanks to the generosity and enthusiasm of all who played, donated, volunteered or contributed in any way. Your support helps make a real difference.
