Pride shines bright inMullingar
A colourful and vibrant crowd gathered in Mullingar Town Park on Saturday, July 5, to celebrate Mullingar Pride and march in their parade for the fourth year.
Before the parade, there was a family event in the park, where visitors were treated to some live music, ice cream vans, loads of flags and merchandise.
An Garda Síochána led the way for the parade, with one of their patrol cars covered in the pride colours and slogans to help mark the occasion.
The parade marched through the town with banners, representatives from Longford Pride, local businesses, and a local drum band, before turning at Dominick Square and looping back down through Blackhall.
After the parade, there were events in Daly’s Bar and Smiddy’s to help ring in yet another successful year of Mullingar Pride.
Mark Reynolds, former Chairperson of Mullingar Pride, said: “We’re incredibly proud of what we’ve achieved, even though I've stepped down, it's incredible to see others step in and carry the torch to ensure Pride continues to thrive here in Mullingar.”
Mullingar Pride also held a Drag Brunch fundraiser in Daly’s Bar on June 14, from 2 pm to 4 pm, where the event was said to be a great success. All proceeds were donated to supporting LGBTQ+ community projects and initiatives.
