TD Peter Burke hails National Broadband Plans success in Westmeath

Minister Peter Burke has expressed his delight as the National Broadband Plan is rolled out across Ireland, allowing more people access to high-speed broadband.

Over 11,900 businesses and homes in Westmeath will now be able to access the ultra-fast broadband, with Westmeath €46 million investment under the National Broadband Plan.

Minister Burke said: “This is one of the most significant infrastructure projects in the history of the state, and I'm proud to see it being delivered on time and within budget.

“Local businesses can now produce and sell their goods and sercies more competitively.

“Farmers are using smart technologies to manage their operations more eddeciently and sustainably.

Minister Burke continued to praise the plan, detailing the progress that had been made in getting it off the ground.

“The National Broadband plan was initiated by Fine Gael in 2019 under Minister Richard Bruton, had the party not pressed ahead, the delivry of high-speed broadband to rural Ireland would still be a distant hope.

“Instead, we are now seeing tangible progress in Westmeath and across the country, and that will continue for generations to come,” Peter Burke concluded.
