All the fun of the fair at Mullingar Show 2025

The showgrounds at Culleen, Mullingar recently welcomed visitors from all across Ireland to one of the most exciting community gathering in the country for the Mullingar Show. The event is more than just an agriculture show, it's about bringing people together.

From pedigree cattle and sheep, horse and pony, poultry and dogs, horticulture and cookery this is rural life well represented, there was also arts, crafts and photography and stands reflecting many aspects of country and town life and living.

“It's one of the longest running shows in the country, in fact we've hosted the gathering for over 190 years,” PRO of Mullingar Show, Paddy Donnelly, says of the day, “We're unique in that we are one of the few shows that own their own ground.”

Music was a popular draw for the crowd. The dance floor at the gig rig was full throughout the day. The main attraction was Robert Mizzell but TR Dallas also made a surprise appearance.

Paddy confirmed there were over 600 entries in the indoor area, over 350 sheep entries which was well up on previous years, and about 290 entries in the cattle classes. The dog show and the pony and horse classes also attracted strong entries.

Paddy was particularly pleased with the increase in the number of volunteers that came on board for this year’s show. “We had a number of new volunteers this year, young people, and that is great to see,” he said.

The introduction of the Kiddies’ Corner has proved popular, Paddy added, pointing out: “This is no longer an agri show, it’s a family day out and we have to cater for families of all sizes.”

The organisers are already working on plans for next year’s show.
