€198,000 investment in water services for Westmeath – Troy
Fianna Fáil TD for Longford Westmeath, Minister Robert Troy has welcomed the allocation of €198,000 for Westmeath, as part of the announcement by the Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage, James Browne, TD, of almost €74 million in capital funding for 291 rural water projects nationwide.
He said: “This funding will make a real and lasting difference to communities across Westmeath. It reflects our ongoing commitment in government to support rural areas, ensuring greater regional balance.
“This funding lays the groundwork for sustainable growth in both regional hubs and smaller towns a villages. As we continue to deliver on our housing commitments infrastructure like this is essential to ensure even greater housing delivery.”
The investment is being made under the Rural Water Programme 2024–2026 and will significantly improve access to safe, reliable drinking water in rural areas that are not connected to the public (Uisce Éireann) network.
Minister Troy added: “This investment will make a big difference for generations to come. Investment like this lays the groundwork for future growth, from building new homes to supporting local development into the future across Westmeath.”
