James Bourke reappointed as president of Mullingar Chamber

Mullingar Chamber have announced that James Bourke was re-elected as president at their AGM on Tuesday, July 22, in the Greville Arms Hotel, Mullingar.

Speaking on his appointment, James said: “We had a hugely successful 12 months in Mullingar Chamber. We ran a number of important events, such as the Midlands career expo, the chamber awards night and WinterFest. We were extremely busy overhauling and relaunching the Mullingar Gift Card, which should benefit those in retail and hospitality, by keeping money within our local economy.”

Pointing out that a great deal of work goes on behind the scenes, he said: “Lobbying and member representation has also been a key area of focus. We have engaged with Westmeath County Council on a number of key projects and important consultations.

“I feel that a strong relationship between Mullingar Chamber and the local authority is important for our town. We sit on two Strategic Policy Committees with Westmeath County Council, and I would also like to highlight the important work we do there.”

Mr Bourke thanked the board of Mullingar Chamber for their work in the last year and for “once again supporting me as president”.

“I have thoroughly enjoyed my year and am excited for the second term. The mission statement of Mullingar Chamber is to ‘promote Mullingar as a place to live, work and do business’ and I will do my absolute best to continue that.”

He finished by thanking the staff of Mullingar Chamber: “We run a busy, town centre office and on behalf of the board I would like to acknowledge the hard work that the Mullingar Chamber staff do, all for the better of our business community”.
