NISO Midland branch held their presentation of certificates for the Introduction to Occupational Health and Safety courses in the Hodson Bay hotel in Athlone on Friday June 20. Two courses were hosted by TUS Athlone between September and December 2024 and again between February and May 2025.
People from around Mullingar who successfully completed the course included; Enda Morris (Mullingar) and Alan Kelly (Siemens X Ray Division and Manorfield, Kinnegad). They were among the 20 participants who successfully completed the course.
They included people from Westmeath, Offaly, Galway, Clare, Longford, Roscommon, Kildare, Meath, Louth and Tipperary. Participants received their certificates, from Minister Boxer Moran. John Henson, Martin Whyte and Fergal Sweeney represented NISO Midlands along with Dr Sean Reidy, (TUS and chairperson of NISO Midlands).
There were two separate presentations to Lisa Sweeney, TUS nursing lecturer, who is stepping back from lecturing on the course, and Charlene Fitzpatrick, who accepted a set of Bog Oak pieces on behalf of the BNM Quiz team who won the National Safety Quiz competition held in Mullingar Park hotel earlier this year.
The NISO Cert course will run from Monday September 15 at TUS Athlone. A number of the participants are advancing onto the part-time Level 7 degree in EHS Management in the autumn at TUS.
