September hearing of violent disorder case
Two defendants who are accused of being involved in a late night altercation in Mullingar town centre will have details of the case against them heard at a September sitting of Mullingar District Court.
Jack Glennon (31) of Lyanmore, Ardagh, Longford, and Laura Connell (32) also of Lyanmore, Ardagh, Longford, both faced charges that along with two other named individuals they committed violent disorder by threatening to use unlawful violence on December 14, 2024 at Grove Street, Mullingar.
Before Judge Bernadette Owens accepted jurisdiction over the case, solicitor Fiona Baxter explained the incident occurred following a social event Ms Connell and Mr Glennon had with a group of work colleagues.
Sgt Orla Keenan told the judge the prosecution had CCTV footage of the incident. Ms Baxter said her client, Ms Connell, acknowledged she was involved in the altercation, but only in a peripheral role.
Having accepted jurisdiction over the case, Judge Owens asked about the other parties involved in the incident.
Solicitor Louis Kiernan outlined that two juveniles have both entered guilty pleas to the charges against them. The court heard that Jack Glennon has also entered a guilty plea. Ms Baxter said her clients were anxious to have the matter dealt with as soon as possible.
Judge Owens remanded the defendants on continuing bail to return before the court on September 12, 2025 for facts, mitigation and penalty.
