HSE considering use for Church Avenue hall
The old Church of Ireland parish hall on Church Avenue, Mullingar is being considered as a location for HSE services, members of Westmeath County Council learned at their quarterly finance meeting held in July.
A query on the building was raised by Cllr Mick Dollard, who observed that as the same time as that building is standing unused, Westmeath County Council is criticising private sector owners who have vacant buildings lying empty.
“Is there anything at all happening now?” he asked.
Responding, the chief executive of the council, Barry Kehoe, said that the HSE is considering the building as a location for the delivery of services, and regular meetings are held with the HSE in relation to that. However, he confessed, while he hoped it would be put to such use, he was not confident it would, but he undertook to keep the members updated.
