New 38-unit housing plan propsed for Glenmore Wood
A planning application has been lodged seeking permission for the development of 38 new residential units at Glenmore Wood, Dublin Road in Mullingar.
The proposed development by Andrews Construction in Mullingar, covering a site of approximately 0.59 hectares, aims to deliver a modern residential scheme comprised of five three-storey apartment blocks.
Each block will feature a ground-floor two-bedroom apartment with a three-bedroom duplex unit above. In total, the development will include 19 two-bed apartments and 19 three-bed duplexes.
The layout centres around a landscaped open space, with the buildings arranged to create a courtyard-style setting. Plans also include 38 car parking spaces, alongside integrated bicycle parking, bin storage facilities, and communal and private outdoor areas.
The 1,125 square metres of open space is planned includes private gardens or balconies for each unit as well as shared communal green areas. Landscaping proposals feature a mix of hard and soft treatments, with footpaths, boundary works, and various ancillary infrastructure also included.
The development aims to meet growing housing demand in Mullingar and enhance residential options along the Dublin Road corridor in close proximity to schools, shops and transport links, say the developers.
The application is under consideration by Westmeath County Council with a decision due by 16 September.
