Brosna fun day ‘for the kids’ though adults join in as well

Relic Road Park in Kilbeggan was alive with colour and locals enjoying themselves on Saturday week last (July 26), as the Brosna Residents Group held their annual Kilbeggan Family Fun Day.

The event was for residents, and most of the stalls were run by people from Kilbeggan.

There were bouncy castles, barbecue stalls, a live music rig, carnival rides for children, local artisan stalls and sumo wrestling.

Carly Davis, spokesperson for the Brosna Residents Group, said: “This is our seventh annual year doing the fun day. We just wanted to do something for the local children, it’s just all for the kids.”

Speaking on the group’s hopes for the future, Carly said: “We are hoping to make it better, and thankfully, it’s getting bigger every year.

“The Relic Road Park is the biggest area for green space that we can use, but we would like to bring it further up the town and bring in different aspects to different areas of the town.”

“It’s important because there’s nothing for the kids to do that’s free in the area, and we started to better the area for the local children. This is something free for them to do, where they don’t have to be involved with any sports teams, it’s just where everybody can come and mingle with each other and join in.”
