Outdoor recreation applications of some €550,000 submitted

Applications totalling more than €546,000 have been submitted by the Municipal District of Mullingar Kinnegad for outdoor recreation and community improvement projects.

The update was provided at the district’s July meeting in response to a question from Cllr David Jones, who sought clarity on this year’s funding bids under the Outdoor Recreation Infrastructure Scheme (ORI) and the CLÁR programme.

Among the major ORI applications are €44,000 for the Donore Lakeside Development, €42,500 for an entrance upgrade at Ladestown, and €44,400 for the Newbrook Rail Trail. Two larger-scale projects were also submitted under ORI Measure 2 – €124,000 sought for a looped walk in Delvin and €123,843 for Phase 3 of The Lene Way.

Under the CLÁR scheme, the council has applied for €32,000 to upgrade the amenity route from Nancy to Nelly in Fore. Graveyard enhancement works also feature, including €49,500 for boundary wall works at Lackan and €41,500 for repairs at Mayne.

A further €44,450 has been requested to install compacting solar bins in Raharney, Fore, Finea, Coole, and Multyfarnham.
