Mayor wants streetscape upgrade on Pearse Street

A plea to have public realm improvements carried out to the area of Mullingar between the entrance to the town park on Pearse Street and the Cross Keys Pub on Austin Friars Street was made by Mullingar mayor, Mick Dollard.

The independent councillor made his call at the June meeting of the Municipal District of Mullingar Kinnegad, where he asked the executive to seek funding to meet the cost of the work.

“I’m sure I have the support of all the members on this motion,” he said.

The written response provided by the executive stated that it will work with the county council’s Regeneration and Capital Projects Section to progress further public realm projects in Mullingar through URDF (Urban Regeneration Development Fund) grants or other sources as they become available.

At the same meeting, Cllr Dollard asked that the district put in place a yellow traffic junction box at the entry/exit to Beech Lawns/Beech Drive on the old N4 to accommodate vehicular traffic.

To that, the executive responded that it will look into the provision of the yellow box.
