Collinstown farmers market to host fundraising raffle for local toddler Toby
The Collinstown farmers market will be adding to the community spirit at its next gathering on Sunday, August 17, as it hosts a special fundraising raffle in aid of local toddler Toby.
Toby, who is just eight weeks old, was diagnosed with Propionic Acidaemia (PA) at only five days old. PA is a rare inherited metabolic disorder that affects the body’s ability to process certain proteins, and it is a lifelong, potentially life-threatening condition. His family are now fundraising to cover upcoming costs linked to his treatment, which may include participation in a clinical trial in Manchester or a liver transplant in London.
Toby's case was previously reported by the Westmeath Examiner here.
The market, established in 2019 and known for its wide variety of local homemade produce, will take place at Collinstown Hall (Eircode N91 HK96). Stalls will be open as usual with fresh fruit, vegetables, baked goods, preserves, crafts, and more, but this month’s edition comes with an effort to raise much-needed funds to support Toby and his family.
The raffle will feature a selection of prizes generously donated by local businesses, stallholders, and community members. All proceeds from ticket sales will go directly towards assisting Toby’s needs.
The event will run throughout the morning and early afternoon, and visitors are encouraged to come early to visit the stalls, enjoy the atmosphere and take part in the raffle draw.
