Hockey Club dinner and awards night returns

Last Saturday night, Mullingar Hockey Club held their club dinner and awards night in the Greville Arms Hotel. The annual event had not been held in a long time and club members agreed it was great to revive it and tie it in with the awards night.

A huge effort was put in by Marc Watters and Ruby Murray, who last season were respective first team captains, and are boyfriend and girlfriend, which probably helped with the planning. Thanks to everyone that supported the night and even bigger thanks to all the businesses that helped provide raffle prizes.

The award winners on the night were: Men’s 1s player of the season, Tom Bowers; Men’s 2s player of the season, Stephen Wiltshire; Men’s young player of the season, Cameron Wiltshire; Ladies player of the season, Rachel Crowe; Ladies young player of the season, Emma Harding; Ladies vets player of the season, Laura Halligan; Club person of the season, Marc Watters and Ruby Murray.

As hockey is a minority sport, the club are always looking for players and have a potential team for everyone from age eight and up. The U10s and 12s train on Sundays, 14s and 16s train on Mondays (for now) and the senior teams train on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The Ladies Vets team play on Fridays.

All games and training take place at Wilson’s Hospital School, Multyfarnham.
