Calgary visitors to Dolan family recall farm stay from 1980s

Two visitors from Canada were relaxing with a cup of coffee in the Mullingar Park Hotel on Saturday having come to the area to visit a local family.

Patti Scott and Ewa Moreau were in Europe on holiday and decided to contact the Dolan family in Mullingar, on whose farm Patti worked in the early 1980s.

Explaining to the Westmeath Examiner, Patti said: “I was here 42 years ago, living and working with the Dolans on their farm, and I’m back to see them.

“I actually had a work visa to London and I got there and I was terrified, so I knew they had moved to Ireland from Canada and there was a bit of a connection, so I called them, and I came here.”

Patti spent an enjoyable four months with the Dolans at that time, and she and Ewa spent an enjoyable afternoon with Helga on Saturday.
