Calendar Girls plan makeup demo with beauty expert
A live makeup demonstration with talented local beauty expert Maelisa Tierney will be held in Murtagh’s, Multyfarnham, on Saturday evening next, August 23, as part of the Multyfarnham Film Awards fundraising drive. The event is organised by the crew of Calendar Girls, one of seven movies being produced by local groups.
AnneMarie Casserly, one of the Calendar Girls cast, said tickets for the makeup demo are available online, and all are welcome to attend. “It will be a great night!”
There will be a raffle on the night for 30 prizes worth more than €2,000, including two tickets to see Manchester United play at home at Old Trafford. Raffle tickets are €5 each and even if you cannot attend, you can buy raffle tickets online.
Maelisa Tierney has more than 10 years’ experience in the beauty business and is based in the 9 Muses hair and beauty salon in Castle Street, Mullingar. She will be on hand to share tips on applying makeup, advise on skin care and recommend skin care and makeup products.
AnneMarie said the Calendar Girls crew are starting filming in October and rehearsals are scheduled for throughout September, in preparation for the Film Awards ceremony, to be held in the Johnstown Estate in Enfield on November 21.
Between now and the awards night, the casts and crews will be busy rehearsing and filming the seven movies featuring almost 100 actors. The films are The Snapper, The Field, Father Ted, Calendar Girls, Bad Sisters, Forest Gump and Derry Girls.
The organisers of the a awards night are working with Kevin Rowe Events, and individuals and groups from the area and further afield have come on board.
The event is part of the drive to raise funds to upgrade community and sports facilities in Multyfarnham. In recent years, Multyfarnham GAA has been steadily growing and they recently opened a new Croke Park size pitch with a walking track around it. Their next project is the development of an astroturf pitch.

A native of Galway, AnneMarie is a former camogie player and her husband Leeroy played football with Multyfarnham. He now trains the U12 squad of which their daughter Katie is a member.
