Applications open for 30 cost rental homes in Westmeath

The housing agency Tuath has opened the application process for 30 cost rental homes at Greville Park in Mullingar.

Under the cost rental scheme the two-bedroom, mid-terrace homes are being rented for €1,095 per month. Applications are being accepted online until September 21 at 2pm.

Tuath said the BER A-rated, two-bedroom homes offer "energy efficiency, value for money and security," within walking distance of Mullingar town centre.

"These homes come following the successful delivery of 46 cost rental homes in the first phase of this development last year," a Tuath spokesperson added.

The cost rental scheme is designed to offer long-term, secure tenancies with rents "set at a minimum of 25%" below the average rate on the private rental market.

Earlier this summer, a smaller cost rental scheme of eight new homes at Glanmore Heights in Dun an Ri, Coosan, Athlone, was advertised by the housing agency Respond.

Demand for the eight homes in Athlone far outstripped supply, with more than 550 applications received by Respond in early June.
