Westmeath woman appointed principal of leading FET college

Dunboyne College of Further Education will have a new principal from 1 September.

Louth and Meath Education and Training Board (LMETB) has announced the appointment of Catherine Fox as principal of Dunboyne College of Further Education and Training (DCFET).

Ms Fox will officially take up her new position on 1 September, succeeding Denis Leonard (member of Westmeath County Council), who announced his retirement earlier this year.

A native of Westmeath, Ms Fox brings with her a wealth of experience across the further education and training (FET) sector, academia, and industry.

She has been deputy principal at DCFET and has played a pivotal role in the continued development and success of the college.

Ms Fox holds a Bachelor of Arts in History, Anthropology, English, and Economics from Maynooth University, and a Masters in Journalism from Dublin City University.

She has also completed postgraduate studies in Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) and Programme Design and Validation.

Her professional background includes roles as an assistant principal at Cavan Institute, and lecturer at Martin-Luther University in Germany.

In addition to her academic experience, Ms Fox worked as a journalist and communications consultant, most notably with Combilift, the Monaghan-based forklift manufacturer, highlighting her strong links with industry and real-world learning environments.
