‘Something special’ at Castlepollard Community College, says principal

James McGrath, new principal at Castlepollard Community College, says it is fantastic to have been part of something special at the school in recent times with bursary awards presented to Jasmine Chen at Trinity College in 2023 and Laura Delaney in UCD last year.

“This year’s cohort of students were an exemplary ambitious group,” said Mr McGrath, “all with high expectations to reach for the stars. Chloe Wong attained top grades for medicine, Alex Mills will pursue a course in nursing, having been awarded the school’s Misneach Award, and twins Seán Óg Butler and Joshua excelling with H1s in engineering.

“Nadine Reilly is hoping to pursue a career in primary teaching while we have a number of students seeking apprenticeships,” said Mr McGrath.

“These students are brilliant role models and are a credit to their families. I wish them every success in their future careers, safe in the knowledge that they have left our community college in a better place, thanks to their endeavours – not solely academically but in the arts, STEM, debating, sport and extra-curricular, and all facets of school life.”
