Bikers Ride Out For Prems to visit Mullingar at weekend

Bikers Ride Out For Prems was born from the concerted efforts of a group of bike enthusiasts who were riding under the Blue Daos Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club Banner. The president of the club wanted to stand out from all other motorcycle clubs and do something different to support the community.

Bikers Ride Out For Prems are a non-profit charity and all members are voluntary, giving their time, support and effort to help children born too soon, too small or too sick.

All funds raised go toward the purchase of lifesaving and life preserving medical equipment and equipment to aid parents during their babies stay in NICUs.

No monies are handed over to hospitals, as that tends to get used elsewhere; instead the bikers contact the NICU managers, who give a list of what the unit needs, often equipment that is outside the hospital budget and requests for the equipment have already been refused by the HSE and hospital management.

The equipment is then delivered to 15 neonatal units during the biannual ‘Ride Out’ – a four-day motorcycle trip around Ireland delivering the equipment the bikers have purchased directly to the 14 neonatal units they currently support.

“We hope to raise more funds and eventually be in a position to help all 19 neonatal units in Ireland and raise awareness about premature birth and ease the pressure off our front line staff and the families who have been touched by a premature birth,” said Mark O’Shaughnessy on behalf of the bikers.

“We have met some amazing families who have all had different outcomes. Unfortunately, some babies have gained their angel wings and it is their families and their help that give us the inspiration to do what we do.”

Today Thursday September 4 the bikers started the 2025 Bikers Ride Out For Prems. Their timetable is below; they visit Mullingar hospital on Sunday.
