Tánaiste Simon Harris.

Housing, health infrastructure on agenda for Fine Gael 'Think In' this week in Mullingar

Statement from Fine Gael ahead of Think In in Mullingar

Fine Gael will gather for its parliamentary party meeting (Think In) in Mullingar, over the next two days.

Budget 2026, housing, infrastructure, in particular health infrastructure, children’s disability services and special education are expected to be on the agenda.

The party will discuss its main priorities for the forthcoming Budget with a specific focus on reducing costs for families and improving access to services.

Tánaiste Simon Harris is expected to tell colleagues: “This is the first budget of the new government and it must show our intent, it must show our values; protecting our economy, protecting jobs, building homes and infrastructure, delivering for working families and helping our carers, disabled people, older people and those most in need.”

He is expected to outline four priorities ahead of next month’s Budget by outlining his view that Fine Gael must work to deliver a package that:

• Builds resilience in our economy and works to protect every job.

• Works to build homes and deliver key infrastructure across Ireland.

• Delivers permanent, sustainable relief for working families by cutting their costs

• Supports carers, children, older people and the most vulnerable.

The Tánaiste will state the Budget cannot deliver everything in one year, but it must show the direction of travel for carers, childcare and child poverty.
