New home is icing on cake for 2210 Patisserie

It’s not often that such a historical building gets a makeover, but thanks to Una Leonard and 2210 Patisserie, that’s what happened to the bank building on the Market Square.
2210 Patisserie has moved from Mount Street for many years, where Una and her team established a reputation for the quality of their products.
The former bank building is now a vibrant spot, awash with a sea of colour, and so far, it has been extremely popular.
Una said: “I just knew straight away, I had a really good feeling every time I looked at it.
“The whole process started in January and February, it was perfect, I did not feel one bit of stress from the day that I stepped foot in here to the day we opened.”
Being the one to repurpose such an iconic building in Mullingar was important to Una. “This building, it really is so beautiful. I couldn’t wait to get in every day, as there was always something new going on, and something being changed.
“It was so nice to be able to come home and talk about the renovations, the fact that we were bringing such a beautiful building back to life.
“Everything here was thought out, but you get a feeling when you walk into a place like this, and I really hope that everyone gets that when they go in to it.”
On her plans for the future, Una said: “We are only at the beginning of this. Our aim is that this can be a community space; we hope to make a little more room for extra space in the building.
“We also want to facilitate things like cake decorating, wreath making, mainly just to provide community events that don’t revolve around alcohol.”
Along with that, Una is releasing her second cookbook shortly, in which she will further highlight some of the skills that have made her one of Westmeath’s most successful entrepreneurs of the last decade.
