New Westmeath minor hurling manager, Ger Behan.

Behan becomes minor hurling boss

Ger Behan of Cullion has been appointed as Westmeath minor hurling manager for the coming season.

Behan has assembled an experienced backroom team that includes former Castletown Geoghegan senior hurling manager, Pat O’Brien. Seamus Ennis (Delvin), Greg Gavin (St Oliver Plunkett’s), Fintan Clarke (Castletown Geoghegan) and Martin Geary (Southern Gaels) are all selectors.

Westmeath will be hoping to build on some good progress at U16 level in recent years.

Last year’s minor hurling manager, Brendan McKeogh (Raharney) achieved some positive results against Meath, Offaly and Carlow, but the Lake County found Dublin too strong in the knockout stages of the Leinster championship.

The new minor hurling management team was ratified at a meeeting of the Westmeath GAA's County Committee on Tuesday, on the proposition of Dermot Broughan, seconded by Willie Murphy.
