‘Trojan effort’ on defibs for parish
The chairman of the Ballymore, Boher and Moyvoughley Defibrillator Group, Joe Flanagan, has paid tribute to the "wonderful communities" who have come together to make sure new defibrillators are available in the parish.
"A massive congratulations to our wonderful communities on the incredible achievement of securing eight brand-new defibrillators (AEDs), which are now fully live and ready to serve us all," Mr Flanagan said. "This is a remarkable milestone made possible only through the tireless dedication, teamwork and Trojan effort of our parishioners, local clubs, local councillors and many others."
He said the response from parishioners and supporters had been overwhelming: "A total of €13,500 has been donated to this project to date through a GoFundMe page and contributions from parishioners and people from near and far. The committee are deeply appreciative of the wonderful support and generosity we received and are happy in the knowledge that our parish is well prepared in the event of someone suffering a cardiac arrest locally."
Looking ahead, training nights will be held in Ballymore, Boher and Moyvoughley in early October. "The sessions will last about an hour and will cater for those who want to refresh their training and for those wishing to learn how to use these new devices," Mr Flanagan said.
He added that the GoFundMe page would close soon: "It is hoped to close the page in the coming weeks, so if you wish to contribute to this great cause, it’s not late to do so."
