Mullingar U12s leave their mark at Clongowes College Blitz

U12 Blitz

The Mullingar RFC U12 boys hit the N4 early last weekend to take part in the Clongowes College Rugby Blitz. They faced strong opposition from Blackrock, Old Crescent, Ashbourne and Wicklow, showing fantastic commitment, hard tackles given and taken, great support play, and some brilliant team tries.

The lads grew in confidence with every game and certainly left their mark in Clongowes today. A big thank you to Clongowes for the warm welcome, superb facilities, and a brilliant day of rugby.

Pre-season fixture

Mullingar under 14s boys hosted Sligo RFC in a well contested pre-season fixture on Saturday morning. Our lads had travelled to Sligo on two previous occasions recently and were well looked after each time so it was great to host them in Mullingar this time.

Played in good conditions, Sligo got on the scoresheet first before Mulllingar ran in three tries from distance to gain the upper hand. Sligo rallied in the middle third to score four tries without reply before our lads closed the scoring with a final try. Many thanks to Sligo for travelling and well done to our lads who tackled hard throughout against a well drilled Sligo side.

Flying start for U16s

Our U16s got their Midlands League campaign off to a flyer on Friday night with an 8pm away clash against Longford. After four weeks of hard graft on the training paddock, the lads showed their mettle with a strong performance. A big panel travelled, and it was a credit to every one of them. Longford put up a tough fight, but Mullingar pulled away early, playing some cracking rugby in the first half to seal a 48–5 win.
