Leonard receives update on Kinnegad projects

“Substantial completion” of the library construction project in Kinnegad is expected this month, the Municipal District of Mullingar Kinnegad said in response to a query lodged by Cllr Denis Leonard.

At the district’s monthly meeting, the written response to Cllr Leonard’s query stated that once completed, the building will then be handed over to the library services for stocking.

“The playground is progressing well, and it is expected to be opened in early October,” the response concluded.

At the same meeting, Cllr Leonard sought detail on the number of derelict and vacant properties in Kinnegad and plans for dealing with them.

The response stated that there are five derelict properties in Kinnegad which are being pursued and levied under the Derelict Sites Act, 1990.

Security fencing

Cllr Leonard also requested that the district undertake to install appropriate security fencing around the perimeter of the new town park in Kinnegad in the interest of health and safety for residents of Heathfield, Tara Lawns and Main Street.

Stated the response: “The Municipal District of Mullingar Kinnegad has advised that they have met with residents regarding this issue. Works will be carried out as agreed in the coming weeks.”

Bun Daire

In response to a request from Cllr Leonard for a report on progress on the speeding and extra parking issues at Bun Daire, Kinnegad, the executive replied that they will install speed ramps in Bun Daire “within the next few weeks”.

Cemetery

A final request from Cllr Leonard was that the district replace the sign for the westbound exit for St Agnes Cemetery in Coralstown off the M4. The council replied that if the members agreed, a letter can issue to Transport Infrastructure Ireland in that regard.
