The Fureys: to play Mullingar Arts Centre on December 30.

Fureys announce Mullingar date

Legendary Irish folk group The Fureys, who have announced they are to retire, have included a Mullingar date on their farewell tour – at Mullingar Arts Centre on Monday December 30.

After more than five decades of international touring and recording, the band play their final 105 concerts across Ireland, the UK and mainland Europe between October and May. The tour will culminate in two closing shows at Vicar Street in May 2026.

Formed in the 1970s, The Fureys became household names with their distinctive folk sound and ballads. On stepping back from touring, they stated: “It’s not easy to make a decision like this but time catches up with us all. We’ve had an unbelievable career, and none of it could have happened without the encouragement of our parents, Ted and Nora, our families, and the most loyal supporters imaginable, many who now come to shows with their adult children and grandchildren.”

The band paid tribute to late and former members who made significant contributions, including Paul Furey, Derek McCormack, Derek Murtagh, and long-time collaborator Davey Arthur, who had to retire due to illness.

On this final tour, The Fureys are joined by musicians Camillus Hiney, Tony Murray, Sean Cannon, and Martin Furey.

Tickets for the Mullingar Arts Centre show are now available, and full tour dates are listed on thefureys.com/concerts.
