St Mary's and Sacred Heart team celebrate with Geraldine

The team from St Mary’s Special School, Delvin – now the new Sacred Heart School in Mullingar – gathered with their friend and colleague Geraldine McLoughlin to celebrate her 24 years of dedicated service, looking after the pupils of St Mary’s.

The event was in June, before the summer school break, at the Annebrook Hotel, and it followed events in the school when the children and students had given her a great farewell and countless hugs, as she began the next chapter in her life.

The evening was a lovely tribute to Geraldine, who has a gift of making everyone in her company feel valued, respected and at ease.

Geraldine’s ‘light up the room smile’ was known to all, especially for incoming staff members, who Geraldine would go the extra mile for in order to make them feel welcome and part of the St Mary’s team.

Some of her closest colleagues made some lovely speeches and both tears and laughter flowed, and the school principal Anne-Marie Connolly thanked Geraldine in a lovely speech on behalf of all members of the board of management.

When all was said and a great meal was shared, Geraldine gave those present some serious lessons in jive dancing with her husband and dance partner Ger.

All the team of the Sacred Heart had a memorable evening celebrating with Geraldine and her family and send a big thanks to the Annebrook House Hotel team for their hospitality and making the night so special.
