Catherine Connolly continues to canvass despite cancelling Mullingar stop
Presidential candidate Catherine Connolly says regardless of polls she will continue to canvass up until election day.
“You can't trust polls, I will be canvassing for the next two day,” she told the Examiner on her Longford stop of the campaign.
She said she has enjoyed her time canvassing in the Midlands.
The presidential hopeful had to call off her planned visit to Mullingar later this evening due to scheduling issues.
There was a large turnout in Longford to welcome the Independent politician, including Longford Westmeath TD Saoirse Clarke.
Deputy Connolly will make stops in Athlone later this evening, where she will canvass at the Technological University of the Shannon, Athlone Campus. It's expected she will arrive in Athlone by 7pm.
Voters will go to the polls this Friday to elect either Ms Connolly or Fine Gael's Heather Humphreys as the next president of Ireland.
