Fine Gael candidate Heather Humphreys has officially conceded the Irish presidential election, expressing pride in her campaign.
“I visited every county and gave it everything. But I enjoyed it,” she reflected, emphasising the personal fulfilment she found in engaging with voters nationwide.
Speaking at the Count Centre in Ballyhaise, Humphreys acknowledged the outcome, extending her formal congratulations to Catherine Connolly, saying: “She will be our next president.”
She also highlighted the importance of civic participation, noting it is vital for people to put their names forward and contribute to the democratic process.
“ Politics is about putting your name on the ballot—if you win, you win; if not, it’s rejection. I knew what I was doing, and I’m glad I did it.”
