Council see need for motor home spaces
A call for space for motor homes was contained in one of the submissions made during the public consultation process on the new swimming pool and sports centre.
However, due to space considerations, that’s not going to be possible, council chief executive Barry Kehoe told members of Westmeath County Council last week as they discussed the submissions received.
Mr Kehoe did not rule it out completely: “We do recognise the need for more facilities for motor homes and campers – it is a growing tourism segment, and it’s something that we need to address in the years to come,” he stated.
Mr Kehoe said there isn’t space on the site planned for the swimming pool development. “But it is something we do need to address.”
Cllr Mick Dollard suggested that the council look at providing space for motor homes at the council car park at the rear of Niall Healy’s medical centre on the N52 Delvin Road.
