Filming The Field.

Almost a wrap for Multy Film Awards

It’s not a wrap just yet as far as the Multy Film Awards are concerned, because now that filming has been completed, everyone involved is looking forward to the big night later this month.

Mark Fallon, who is leading the organising committee for the awards, and is acting in one of the movies, thanked “all the actors for giving their time, their energy, their commitment”.

The Film Awards involve almost 100 actors and seven movies – The Snapper, The Field, Father Ted, Calendar Girls, Bad Sisters, Forrest Gump and Derry Girls – and the prizes will be handed out at what is shaping up to be a huge event in the Johnstown Estate in Enfield on Friday November 21.

“People have put so much effort into costumes, into the props, into their acting, and it really has brought the community together,” said Mark.

“It’s not only the immediate community – there are people from Bunbrosna taking part, people from Mullingar, from Crookedwood, Delvin, Castlepollard. It really is stretching far and wide, which is brilliant. It’s been a great few weeks, and there’s going to be some great movies on show in the Johnstown Estate on November 21.”

Doors open at 6.30pm that evening, and tickets are on sale now. Anyone interested in going or finding our more, can make contact via the Multyfarnham GAA Facebook and Instagram pages, or contact any member of the club. Tickets are hard copy only, and there is still plenty of time to get yours.

The fundraising, which is in support of further development of the facilities at Multyfarnham GAA, has been going well, and there are more events lined up for the next few weeks – keep an eye on the social media pages for details.

Mark said that the fundraising is being led by the GAA club, but it is a full community project and the new astroturf pitch being installed will be open to all.

“We thank everyone for the support, and hopefully we will see everybody in Johnstown Estate on Friday November 21,” he said.
