Met Éireann Climate Statement

October 2025 was a mild, dull, and wet month which included Storm Amy, the first named storm of the 2025/26 season, according to the Met Éireann monthly Climate Statement.

The national mean air temperature of 11.61°C placed October 2025 24th warmest in 126 years, but the coolest since 2020.

That reading of 11.61 °C is 1.02 °C above 1961-1990 LTA and 0.82 °C above the most recent 1991-2020 LTA.

The national average rainfall of 159.2mm ranked 23 highest in 85 years and 123% of its 1991-2020 LTA.

The highest gusts recorded during Storm Amy were reported at Malin Head, County Donegal at 148kmh, and the month’s highest 10-minute mean wind speed was 111kmh, also at Malin Head.

All stations recorded below average sunshine for the month; the number of dull days ranged from 11 days at Casement Aerodrome to 17 days at Malin Head.
