Celebrating local businesses and community engagement

The Mullingar business community came together on Saturday November 15 for the Mullingar Chamber Awards 2025, a night celebrating local businesses and community engagement successes.

The evening began with a lively drinks reception, featuring music from Paul Lynch, before chamber president James Bourke, Minister Peter Burke, and Minister Robert Troy addressed the gathering.

MC Ronan Berry from the Midland 103 show Taking Care of Business guided guests through the night. Contributions to Mullingar Chamber were also acknowledged on the night, and long-serving members John Geoghegan and Thomas Flynn were recognised for their years of dedication to the workings of the chamber with special presentations. Additionally, Tom Allen of North Midlands Credit Union was honoured with a standing ovation for his contributions to Mullingar.

The awards recognised outstanding achievements across business, hospitality, retail, and community initiatives.

A particularly moving moment came when James Bourke announced that the Restaurant of the Year Award would be renamed ‘The Christy Maye Restaurant of the Year Award’, as a mark of respect to the late Christy and his contribution to the industry.

James spoke of how proud Christy was when the James Joyce Restaurant in the Greville Arms won the award last year, making this a truly fitting tribute to his legacy. The chamber team were delighted to have Christy’s daughter, Lee-Anne Maye, present on the night to present the award.
