Bowls

Congratulations to the BMB Active bowls team who represented the club in Killarney at the ARI Bowls National Championship. They came second among the teams that placed for the national finals. Given that there were 60 teams competing, our recently established team of bowlers did very well to reach such a high standard.

All are welcome to attend BMB Active traditional Irish music sessions on Thursdays from 8pm in Connaughton’s. Welcome to all musicians, singers, and listeners alike.

On Sunday November 30 the Midlands regional network host the annual Christmas meeting and celebration, from 12.30-5pm. After a traditional Christmas dinner and refreshments music and dancing with Brian McDermott ensemble will provide entertainment. This event is open to all members and friends of the various members of active retirement clubs in the midlands.

On on the first Saturday of every month, a small group meet in Aìt Chuin in Gaine Park, Multyfarnham at 2.30pm to discuss and pray for world peace. All faiths and denominations are welcome to join.

On Saturday December 6 at 6.30pm Multyfarnham Community Development officially turn on the Christmas lights at the village green. Go along and sing Christmas carols under the stars and enjoy a hot chocolate.

On Sunday December 7 in Multyfarnham Community Centre, get your seasonal shopping under way by buying local organic produce and crafts at the country markets 11am-2pm.

On Tuesday December 9, BMB Active celebrate Christmas a little early with an overnight break in the Slieve Russell Hotel in Ballyconnell, Cavan. There are a few vacancies on the bus so if you are interested in joining us, please contact 0871723256 asap.

From humble beginnings a decade ago, the popularity of pickleball has grown and grown. The Multyfarnham Pickleball Christmas party is on Friday December 12 at 9 o’clock in Connaughton’s of Rathowen. It promises to be a great night out so make it better by coming along.

Sympathy

BMB Active members and friends are deeply saddened by the sudden passing of Deirdre Molloy, Rathbennett, Bunbrosna, on November 16, peacefully at her home, wife of John, and mother of Laura, Emer, Maeve, and Ciara. We will miss Deirdre, who enjoyed a game of pickleball in Multyfarnham. She was determined, skilful, and always so pleasant to meet. May she now rest in peace. Condolences to the family and friends of Deirdre.

Film awards

Well done to the scores of local actors who enjoyed displaying their thespian talents for Friday night’s Multy Film Awards fundraising event.

Ann Newman was awarded best emerging actor for her role as Mrs O’Leary in The Snapper, Vincent Maguire for best comedic moment in Derry Girls, Jimmy Reilly, best drama moment for his role as the priest in The Field, Ann Marie Casserly for best supporting female her role in Calendar Girls, Martin Connaughton, best male actor for his role as Forrest Gump, and Emma Harvey, best female actor as Jenny, also in Forrest Gump. Best Film was The Snapper.

It was a massive community achievement so well done to all involved, especially the organisers and sponsors.
